Former bowman Nick Finucan is now beginning his third season as an assistant coach for the Navy offshore sailing staff in 2024, following a six-month sabbatical into civil service.
During his Navy coach tenure, Finucan has sailed and worked with nearly 150 Midshipmen, teaching them problem-solving, critical thinking, personality management and opportunities to develop their leadership abilities in an intense and high stress environment.
Prior to joining the academy as a coach, Finucan taught in several different local sailing programs and raced extensively while also managing some locally-based boats.
Beginning sailing at the age of 13, Finucan was teaching youth programs by age 16 and has extensive sailing experience in the Eastern seaboard, the Bahamas and the British Virgins Islands.
