Biography
Poirier grew up racing Optimists, C420s, and J/22s at the East Greenwich Yacht Club/Greenwich Bay Sailing Association on Narragansett Bay. While on VOST he has served as a Plebe Skipper in the Colgate 26 JVOST fleet, and primary helmsman aboard the Navy 44 Mk I Swift, the J/105 Avenger, and the R/P 66 Zaraffa. During his time on VOST he has competed in the New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta, the Newport to Bermuda Race, the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club Anniversary Regatta, the Marblehead to Halifax Race, the New York Yacht Club 175th Anniversary Regatta, and the Around Long Island Race. He also competed in the Academy's JV Keelboat Promotional Regatta his plebe year, as well as multiple Annapolis Yacht Club regattas his 3/C fall. Majoring in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
