Biography
Doherty grew up sailing on his grandparents' 36' Pearson cutter and various dinghies along the coast and lakes of New Hampshire ... as a member of VOST, he has spent all three summers sailing on board the Navy 44 Mk I Swift ... he spent his first two summers as a sail trimmer and navigator on Swift ... he skippered Swift this past summer following his stint as skipper of the J/105 Dreadnought the previous fall ... he has participated in the Newport-Bermuda Race, Annapolis-Newport Race, Marion-Bermuda Race, and the NYYC Annual Regatta ... he ran cross country and track, as well as swam in high school ... majoring in systems engineering.
