Afable had no sailing experience prior to his arrival at the Naval Academy. Juan has served as crew on the Navy 44 Integrity, J/105 Avenger, Swan 56 Apollo. He has competed in many diverse regattas including Southern Bay Race Week, Annapolis-Bermuda Ocean Race, Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race, Edgartown Race Week, and J/105 Chesapeake Champions. He now serves as helmsman and XO on J/105 Allegiance. Majoring in computer science and information technology.
