Biography

Hughes had no prior sailing experience before coming to the Naval Academy ... she has served as a main trimmer aboard various Navy 44's ... she has competed in and won the Marion to Bermuda race and the Annapolis Bermuda races ... she has also competed in the Annapolis to Newport race, NYYC Race Week, Southern Bay Race Week in addition to numerous other local regattas ... majoring in political science.
