Biography
Steele grew up playing hockey across the Northeast and lacrosse locally. Began sailing at the Naval Academy for a new experience. Trimmed jib/spin on a Colgate 26 in the fall of his 4/C year. In the spring, he was a jib trimmer aboard the Farr40 Zephyr. He competed in the Annapolis to Newport race, the New York Yacht Club Regatta, and in the Storm Trysail Club Block Island Race week. As a senior, Steele competed as a skipper of Farr-40 Zephyr in the Annapolis to Newport Race, New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta, and Block Island Race Week. In the fall, he rotated through several positions to include skipper, trimmer, and mast.
