Biography

Smith grew up in the Chicagoland area. While on VOST, he served as the main trimmer on the Navy 44s Defiance and Gallant, as well as the spinnaker trimmer on the J/105 Allegiant. While on VOST, Phil has competed in the NYYC Annual Regatta, Newport to Bermuda, the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta, Annapolis to Newport, and Marrion to Bermuda. Outside of VOST, he has completed the 2018 and 2019 CYC Race to Mackinac.
