Jimmy Colloton

Jimmy Colloton enters his eighth season as a member of the Navy coaching staff and second as the program’s associate head coach in the fall of 2021.

Navy posted an overall record of 17-14 during his initial 2014-15 season in Annapolis.  The Mids also tied for fourth place in the Patriot League standings with a record of 10-8 and advanced to the semifinal round of the league tournament that year.

After the Mids placed sixth in the Patriot League with a 9-9 record that was part of a 15-15 campaign in 2015-16, Navy posted a 24-10 overall record during the 2016-17 campaign.  Included in that mark was a second-place finish in the Patriot League regular season with a record of 14-4, a berth in the title game of the league tournament and the school’s first national post-season tournament victory when the Mids defeated George Washington in the first round of the WNIT.

Navy found itself near the top of the standings again in 2017-18, Colloton’s fourth year on staff. As part of Navy’s 25-8 record, the Mids went 13-5 in Patriot League play and placed third in the conference. As a result of Navy’s regular season performance, the team qualified for and played in the 2018 WNIT event. Navy’s 25 wins are the most in program history.

Over the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, Colloton has helped a quartet of Midshipmen student-athletes earn individual playing honors from the Patriot League as Jennifer Coleman was named to the All-Patriot League Third Team and All-Freshman Team in 2018-19 before Mary Kate Ulasewicz played her way onto the All-Patriot League Third Team in 2019-20. Ulasewicz' fellow senior Morgan Taylor also garnered a nod this past offseason as a member of the Patriot League All-Defensive Team one year after Bianca Roach earned the same accolade.

In his first season as an associate head coach under Tim Taylor in 2020-21, Colloton helped the Mids navigated a season unlike any other as various COVID-19 procedural hurdles saw Navy play a disjointed 12-game schedule. After a slow start, the Mids won five of their final seven games, all in Patriot League play. At the conclusion of the season, Jennifer Coleman and Sophie Gatzounas earned All-Patriot League honors as members of the second and third team, respectively.

Prior to Navy, Colloton spent three seasons as a member of the coaching staff at Indiana. After serving as a graduate assistant for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, he was tabbed as an interim assistant coach for the 2013-14 season. His three-year stint at the school was capped by the Hoosiers posting a 21-13 record this past season and advancing to the quarterfinal round of the 2014 WNIT

Colloton served as a student assistant coach for the Wittenberg (Springfield, Ohio) men’s basketball team while attending the school as an undergraduate. The Tigers, who have compiled the most wins on the NCAA Division III level, advanced to the second round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament when Colloton was a senior.

A native of Arlington Heights, Ill., Colloton graduated with honors from Wittenberg in 2011 with a degree in economics. He also obtained a master’s degree in sport administration from Indiana. He currently resides in Annapolis with his wife Clare.
