Campbell joined the staff as interim director of operations in December 2022 and was elevated to the role of Director of Player Development in August of 2023. Campbell was promoted to assistant coach in May of 2025 after helping the Mids to the program's first postseason berth since 2018 and an 18-win improvement from 2022-23 to 2024-25.

He graduated Virginia Tech with the Class of 2013.
