Patriot League Rookie of the Week (11/14/22)

2024-25 (Junior)
Played and started 11 non-conference games as Navy’s starting center before succumbing to a season-ending injury … filled up the box score in the Mids’ season opener at Rider on Nov. 4 with 16 points, seven rebounds and two blocks over 26 minutes … in a homecoming game for her and her family at Longwood on Nov. 23 (her father Dave played tennis at Longwood), she went for 18 points to go along with seven rebounds, two assists and a season-high six blocks … grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds versus Dartmouth on Dec. 4, while scoring nine and blocking four shots … registered first double-double of the season on Dec. 7 with 13 points and 12 rebounds against Stetson … in her final action of 2024-25 campaign, she tied a season-high with 18 points on 8-11 shooting from the field versus Delaware on Dec. 19 … completed her augmented season with averages of 9.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.4 assists per game, while shooting 49.5 percent from the field

2023-24 (Sophomore)
Suited up for 28 games and made 18 starts … the Mids’ leading post presence, she shot .470 (63-134) from the field, while grabbing 118 rebounds and blocking a team-best 1.5 shots per game … tallied a double-double on Feb. 21 versus Loyola with 12 points and 10 rebounds over 31 minutes of action, while blocking two shots … had a run of three straight games in double figures, Jan. 24 through Feb. 10 with 16 points against both Bucknell and Army with a 12-point appearance versus Loyola in-between; had a combined 14 blocks during that same stretch with a season-high coming against the Black Knights on Feb. 10 … corralled 10 or more rebounds in three games with a season-best 11 versus American on Feb. 14.

2022-23 (Freshman)
Appeared in all 30 games and made 27 starts … began career with a double-double on the road at William & Mary on Nov. 7 with 11 points and 10 rebounds over 27 minutes of action; followed it up with 11 points and four boards at Air Force on Nov. 11 on her way to winning the initial Patriot League Rookie of the Week award … reached double digits in points on nine occasions, including a season-high 16 versus Idaho on Nov. 27 and a high of 15 in Patriot League play against Lafayette on March 1 … added 10 rebounds against the Leopards in that contest for her second double-double of the season … grabbed seven or more rebounds eight different times with a season-high of 10 boards coming against Air Force, Lafayette and Maryland Eastern Shore on Dec. 1 … tied with Maren Louridas for the best rebounding average among Patriot League freshmen and 13th overall … led all freshmen in the conference with 0.9 blocks per game (fourth overall); blocked five shots against Eastern Shore and four versus Binghamton on Dec. 7 … totaled 187 points for a 6.2 scoring average, 138 rebounds (4.6 avg), 27 assists (0.9) and 27 blocks (0.9) over 583 minutes (19.4), while shooting 44.1 percent (79-179) from the field.

High School
Three-sport athlete at Saint Gertrude: lettered in basketball (4), volleyball (3), track (1) ... suited up on the Saint Gertrude WBB team for head coach Robyn D'Onofrio and for the Central Virginia Elite club program for Phil Stinnie ... led the Gators to a 15-3 record as a junior and VISAA Division I State Girls Basketball Championship in 2021 ... earned All-LIS (League of Independent Schools) First Team and VISAA All-State Second Team honors in 2020 and 2022 as a sophomore and senior ... garnered the SGHS Scholar-Athlete Award all four years of high school and was twice nominated for the Richmond-Times Dispatch Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor ... skilled in her volleyball and track endeavors, Samson was named to the All-LIS team as a senior middle blocker on the volleyball team and set Saint Gertrude's school record for the high jump in 2022 ... teammate of Purdue-Fort Wayne's Erin Woodson ('27)

Daughter of Amy and Dave ... her father played four years of collegiate tennis at Longwood ... extracurriculars at Saint Gertrude included the school's honor council, where she served as secretary and later treasurer ... additionally, she was the Class of 2022 historian for three years.
