Jake Pottoff currently serves as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Naval Academy’s women’s lacrosse program. He began his time at Navy in the fall of 2024.
Prior to joining the Academy, Potthoff was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Boston College from August 2023 to June of 2024. He designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for men’s tennis and men’s and women’s fencing, while assisting full-time staff with the daily implementation of strength, speed, and conditioning programs primarily with women’s lacrosse, as well as, with men’s and women’s ice hockey, baseball, field hockey, volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, track & field, women’s tennis, and softball. Additionally, Potthoff designed and implemented return-to-play programs for baseball, as well as, programs for the redshirt/non-travel developmental players.
He was a graduate assistant wide receivers coach and strength and conditioning coach from January to June of 2023 at Concordia University-Chicago.
Potthoff served as a sports performance intern for football for the University of Wisconsin (May-June 2022) and Florida Atlantic University (May-August 2021).
Originally from Woodstock, Ill., Potthoff earned his bachelor’s degree in health promotion and fitness management in 2022 at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill. where he was a member of the Titans’ football team. He received his master’s in sport and exercise science from Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass. in 2024.
Potthoff is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He holds certifications in CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) from the American Red Cross and is Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
Potthoff lives in Annapolis with his fiancé, Meredith Clancy.
