Tiernan joined the Navy women's rowing program as an assistant coach in August of 2025.
A 2024 graduate from Washington State University and a recent member of the Cougars’ coaching staff. The Connecticut native stayed in Pullman during the 2024-25 year as an assistant coach and director of operations for the Washington State women’s rowing program. In that role, Tiernan was in charge of the developmental squad and walk-on program with specific oversight over the Cougars’ lower boats in competitions. At the 2025 West Coast Conference Championship, Tiernan and the Cougars placed third overall in the team standings.
In addition to coaching at Washington State, she has experience with the Sparks Rowing organization.
As a collegiate athlete, Tiernan was a four-year coxswain for the Cougars’ rowing team. During her time on the water, she helped Washington State’s V8 qualify for the 2021 NCAA Championship. At the national regatta, Tiernan and the Cougars finished 15th in the V8 classification. As a junior in 2023, she was chosen as the team’s MVP. A well-rounded student-athlete, Tiernan was a three-time CRCA Scholar-Athlete selection.
She graduated from Washington State’s Carson College of Business and Honors College with a finance degree in 2024.
