Molly Milligan

Molly Milligan, a 2020 graduate from Princeton University and a recent member of the University of Wisconsin program joined the Navy staff in July of 2022.

In her first season with the Mids in 2022-23, Milligan coached the lower boats and aided in the program's effort to return to the top of the Patriot League standings. At the 2023 Patriot League Championship, Navy finished runner-up in both the first varsity four and second varsity eight races before coming from behind to secure gold in the first varsity eight event. The victory helped the program to its eighth trip to the NCAA Championship Regatta. Alongside head coach Joe Schlosberg, fellow assistant Anne Campbell and boatman Steve Fluhr, Milligan was recognized in the 2023 CRCA Region 2 Co-Staff of the Year announcement.

Working with the Badgers as a graduate assistant during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Milligan helped the team finish fourth at the 2021 Big Ten Championship before capping her initial season with a 14th place result nationally at the 2021 NCAA Championship. The 2021 NCAA berth was the 13th straight in program history. During the 2022 season, Wisconsin raced a top-flight schedule and concluded its campaign with a sixth-place finish at the Big Ten Championship. While in Madison, Milligan worked primarily with the first and second novice crews.

Milligan found a host of success competing at Princeton as a collegiate rower from the fall of 2016 through the spring of 2020. She twice rowed in grand final races at the NCAA Championship as she suited up with the Tigers’ varsity four at the 2017 regatta and varsity eight at the 2018 national meet. At the 2018 NCAA Championship, Milligan and the Tigers placed fifth overall in the nation. Competing in three Ivy League Championships during her career, she collected gold with the varsity eight in 2018 and the second varsity eight in 2019. Rowing with the V4 in 2017, Milligan garnered a bronze medal. In addition to her conquests on the water, she was an accomplished student as she earned CRCA Scholar-Athlete recognition during her time with Princeton. Milligan is a proud third-generation collegiate rower as her mother, Wendy, rowed at Cal Berkeley and her grandfather, John, competed with the Rutgers crew program.

Prior to rowing at Princeton, Milligan competed with the 2015 USRowing World Development Team, as well as with Team USA at the 2016 World Junior Championship.

She graduated from Princeton with a degree from the School of Public and International Affairs in 2020. Additionally, she earned a master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from Wisconsin in 2022.
