    Volunteer Assistant Coach
A graduate of the United States Naval Academy in 1970, Root served in the fleet before working in the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab until 2014. He is currently an instructor at the Naval Academy and has been volunteering with the rowing program over at Hubbard Hall since the 2013-14 academic year.
