Emily Cyphers joined the Navy track and field staff as director of track and field operations in November of 2018.
Cyphers’ job includes coordinating and facilitating team travel, lodging, team related activities, and championship arrangements. In addition, she acts as a liaison between athletic and university departments, dealing with compliance, incoming first year student-athletes, and alumni relations. She assists with budget and team’s yearly competition schedule.
She manages home meet operations with duties including, but not limited to: acting as the main point of contact for visiting teams, student-athletes, and game officiants. Cyphers develops and maintains meet itinerary, event staff duties, and checklists, while overseeing athlete entries, meet set-up, and collecting payment.
Additionally, Cyphers serves as the Navy Track and Field / Cross Country Camp Director, planning, coordinating, and overseeing the overall camp program, camp activities, and camp staff. She served as the main point of contact for parents, campers, and all camp staff prior, during, and after the summer camp.
Cyphers also manages the Navy track and field team’s social media for Instagram (@navytf).
Prior to joining the Naval Academy, Cyphers worked as a Visual Specialist and Community Coordinator at Nike, as well as a Recruiting Coordinator at Spalding University.
Following graduation, Cyphers worked as a recruiting coordinator with Spalding University in Louisville, Ky. At Spalding, she was responsible for all aspects of coordinating and guiding recruiting visits.
Cyphers began working with Nike while still in college. As a Visual Specialist and Community Coordinator, she was responsible for presenting the store and merchandise in a way that maximized sales while generating hype and excitement around Nike’s newest products. Cyphers helped plan and set-up new merchandise and store’s visual design for large events such as the Prefontaine Classic, Eugene Marathon, and NCAA events.
She was actively involved within the Eugene and Louisville communities through volunteer work. Cyphers was a part of the team to lead NRE in its most profitable day in history, raising over $48,000. She helped create and implement in-store competition which increased services by 200-percent and quarterly sales.
Cyphers, a native of Eugene, Ore., attended the University of Oregon, graduating with a bachelor of arts in applied business and economics in 2016.
Cypers has been involved in Lutheran Mission Services, Camp Elderberry (event coordinator), the Boys and Girls Club, and the Eugene Marathon. She is a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA), the Young Professionals of Louisville (YPAL), and the Italian Cultural Institute (ICI). Cyphers is an avid runner who loves to travel.
