Zach Prescott joined the Navy track and field staff as director of track and field operations in April of 2021.
Prescott’s job includes coordinating and facilitating team travel, lodging, team related activities, and championship arrangements. In addition, he acts as a liaison between athletic and university departments, dealing with compliance, incoming first year student-athletes, and alumni relations. Prescott assists with budget and team’s yearly competition schedule.
He manages home meet operations with duties including, but not limited to: acting as the main point of contact for visiting teams, student-athletes, and game officiants. Prescott develops and maintains meet itinerary, event staff duties, and checklists, while overseeing athlete entries, meet set-up, and collecting payment.
Additionally, Prescott serves as the Navy Track and Field / Cross Country Camp Director, planning, coordinating, and overseeing the overall camp program, camp activities, and camp staff. He served as the main point of contact for parents, campers, and all camp staff prior, during, and after the summer camp.
Prescott also manages the Navy track and field team’s social media for Instagram (@navytf).
Prior to joining the Naval Academy, Prescott was a member of the American University cross country and track staff during the 2020-21 season as an assistant coach.
No stranger to the Patriot League, Prescott had a successful career at Boston University, first as a walk-on then as a scholarship student-athlete. As a senior, he was fifth at the Patriot League Championships in the 3000m steeplechase, picking up a new PR of 9:07.85. Prescott was a six-time Patriot League Academic honor roll selection and graduated in 2019 with a degree in business administration and management.
He spent the next year living abroad in Sydney, Australia, and trained with the Sydney University Athletics Club while working at the Australian Catholic University. During his time in Australia, Prescott also spent five months working on a farm in rural New South Wales.
A native of Weymouth, Mass., Prescott now lives in Arlington, Va.
