• Barnhisel in 2011-12 (Jr.): One of four wrestlers to garner NCAA Championship berths, Barnhisel received an at-large bid at 157 pounds ... turned in a 17-12 record on the year, including a 7-4 dual meet mark ... placed fourth at the season-opening Eastern Michigan Open ... though he did not place, he produced a 3-2 record at the Southern Scuffle ... his 8-6 decision over 12th-ranked Matt Lester of Oklahoma in dual action sparked wins in 11 of 12 matches , winning the All-Academy Championship and his dual match against Army's Jimmy Rafferty along the way ... his lone setback during that time frame was a fall against Maryland's Kyle John ... also pinned 19th-ranked Corey Mock of North Carolina in dual action.
• 2010-11 (So.): Battled classmate Mason Bailey throughout the first half of the season for the starting 165-pound position ... suffered a broken jaw on Dec. 29 against Appalachian State's Dominick Vetell at the Southern Scuffle ... turned in a 10-6 record, including a 14-3 major decision over Anthony Bongarzone of Franklin & Marshall in what was his lone dual match of the season ... opened the year with a fourth-place finish at the Eastern Michigan Open ... placed third at the Navy Classic after scoring a 9-8 decision over West Virginia's Kyle Eason ... also competed at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
• 2009-10 (Fr.): Turned in a 5-0 record in his first weekend of action, winning the 157-pound class at the Central New Jersey Open ... earned a 14-10 win over classmate Zach Basich in the championship bout of the tournament ... produced a 3-2 record at the Navy Classic where he did not place ... making his only dual appearance of the season, he was turned back in a 6-4 decision by East Stroudsburg's Thad Frick ... closed out his freshman season with an 8-3 record, including an 0-1 dual mark.
• High School: A 2009 graduate of Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Ill., Barnhisel was a four-year letterwinner in wrestling ... a three-time placewinner at the state tournament, he won the 2009 Illinois State Championship at 152 pounds via a 42-2 record ... claimed Chicago Catholic League titles in 2006 (112), 2008 (140) and 2009 (152) ... a four-time region champ, he is the first wrestler in Fenwick High School history to win sectional titles four times, ironically at four different weights ... named the 2009 Chicago Catholic League Outstanding Wrestler ... served as the team's varsity captain all four years ... two-time Cadet Freestyle All-American ... named the 2009 scholar-athlete of Fenwick's senior class ... served as the Vice President of the Latin Club.
