Biography

• Schalles in 2011-12 (Jr.): Turned in a 10-5 record seeing action in five tournaments and a dual ... scored his lone dual win of his career against Franklin & Marshall's Adam Schroeder in a 9-4 decision ... won his first three matches en route to a fourth-place finish at the Knight Point Open ... also placed fourth at the Navy Classic ... won his first two matches at the Southern Scuffle before having to bow out due to injury.
• 2010-11 (So.): Compiled a 6-5 record in his second season, including a 3-1 mark at the Clarion Knight Point where he placed fifth ... won five matches at the tournament, however two were against prep schools which do not count towards your record ... also competed in the Navy Classic and the Nittany Lion Open ... turned in a 3-2 mark at the Nittany Lion Open.
• 2009-10 (Fr.): Saw action in four tournaments, including the season-opening Central New Jersey Open where he placed third ... earned his first-collegiate victory by way of major decision over Aaron Sandel of Thaddeus Stevens College ... also competed at the Navy Classic, the Nittany Lion Open and the Southern Scuffle ... closed out his rookie season with a 3-6 record.
• High School: A 2008 graduate of Oviedo High School, Schalles attended the Naval Academy Prep School during the 2008-09 academic year ... he earned a pair of wrestling letters from Bishop Moore, as well as Oviedo High Schools ... a state finalist, he served as team captain of the team his senior year, while pacing the team in wins and pins ... was the 165-pound NCWA National Champion in 2009 and owned a 35-5 record.
• Personal: Son of Wade and Debra Schalles ... majoring in Oceanography, he owns a 3.28 GPA ... appeared on the Commandant's and Dean's Lists his first semester ... ranked among the top 30 percent of his class (1,144) in academic order of merit ... father was a four-time NCAA Champion wrestling for Clarion and was the first Pennsylvanian to be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame ... he is the only Div-I wrestler to pin over 100 opponents ... in recognition of Schalles' contribution to the sport, WIN Magazine and the National Wrestling Coaches Association annually present the Schalles Award to the top scholastic and collegiate pinners in America ... his service assignment is Navy Flight Officer.
