2017 NCAA Qualifier

Coleman in 2016-17 (Jr.):  Overcame an elbow injury to post a 22-9 record (4-2 dual) and earned an NCAA Championship berth ... won two of his six duals in the opening weekend of action against Delaware Valley and Johns Hopkins before taking third place at the Harold Nichols Open behind a 6-1 mark ... his lone loss was an 8-6 decision in sudden victory against South Dakota State’s Brady Ayers ... dislocated his elbow the following week at the Navy Classic which kept him off the mat until Jan. 22 when he returned against Duke and dropped a 6-4 decision to Alec Schenk ... the following week he earned his first collegiate individual title by winning the All-Academy Championship which featured a 16-4 major decision over Army’s Samson Imonode in the championship bout ... he also defeated Imonode, 10-0, in the annual Star Match ... was sensational at the EIWA Championship where he placed second ... pinned his first two opponents in the tournament, including Columbia’s Jacob Young whom he pinned in a record-tying time (set in 1958 by Syracuse’s Ed Carlin) of just eight seconds ... presented the Sheridan Award at the EIWA Championship for recording the most pins in the shortest amount of time ... earned his first NCAA Championship berth where he would put together a 2-2 record ... defeated Brown’s Christian LaFragola (7-4) and 15th-seeded Steve Schneider of Binghamton (6-2) ... fell out of the tournament with a 2-1 loss to 10th-seeded Michael Macciavello of NC State.

2015-16 (So.):  Split time with John Keck as Navy’s starter at 165 pounds where he produced a 15-14 record, including a 3-4 mark in dual competition ... won 10 of his first 12 matches of the year that included a second-place finish at the Michigan State Open (Fr/So Division) ... also competed, but did not finish at the Bearcat Open, Navy Classic and Southern Scuffle ... won his first collegiate dual match by a 9-0 major decision over Delaware Valley’s Nick Della Fera, while also winning dual matches against York College and George Mason ... put together a 2-3 record in his first EIWA Championship appearance where he would finish eighth.

2014-15 (Fr.):  Finished his rookie campaign with a 15-11 record, placing in a pair of tournaments ... scored a 4-1 win over Notre Dame’s Mitchell Mickovic at the Michigan State Open (Fr./So. Div.) to post his first collegiate victory ... pinned Cleveland State’s Matt Donohoe in just over 30 seconds to place fifth at the Navy Classic ... took third at the Edinboro Open following his pin (4:47) against Central Michigan’s Jordan Atienza.

High School: A 2014 graduate of Hudson High School in Hudson, Ohio, Coleman was a four-year wrestling letterwinner who twice placed fourth at the Ohio State Wrestling Championship ... led the team to the 2013 sectional title ... served as team captain his senior year ... member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Son of Dave and Kim Coleman ... his father is a graduate of Clarion where he was a member of the wrestling team ... majoring in Systems Engineering.
