• Gil in 2018-19 (Sr.):  Selected by his teammates to serve as wrestling team captain for the 2018-19 season.

• 2017-18 (Jr.):  The Mids’ starter at 141 pounds, he put together a 32-10 record that included a 7-2 dual mark ... the 32 wins marked a personal best, topping his 25 wins as a freshman ... earned his second career NCAA Tournament berth after placing fourth at the EIWA Championship ... won three individual titles over the course of the season - Eastern Michigan, Navy Classic, All-Academy Championship - while taking fifth at the Southern Scuffle ... also competed at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational ... earned his first career victory over a ranked foe by way of a medical forfeit (Luke Karam, Lehigh), but also claimed a 5-3 victory over 17th-ranked Alex Madrigal of Old Dominion in dual action for his second win against a ranked opponent ... won dual matches against Delaware Valley, Drexel, Maryland, American, Duke, Old Dominion and Army ... came up a point shy of upsetting third-seeded and 18th-ranked Luke Karam of Lehigh in the third-place match at the EIWA Championship ... dropped a 9-4 decision to 2018 National Champion Yianni Diakomihalis of Cornell in the semis of the EIWA Championship ... posted a 2-2 record at the NCAA Championship, including a 9-6 victory over Appalachian State’s Irvin Enriquez to give him his first win at the NCAA Championship in two appearances ... also defeated George Mason’s Tejon Anthony at the NCAA Championship.

• 2016-17 (So.):  Had an outstanding season where he produced a 21-7 mark as the backup at 141 pounds ... placed in three of the fourth tournaments in which he competed ... posted a 7-2 mark at the Harold Nichols Open to finish fourth ... went 5-1 at the Navy Classic and featured a 12-5 win over Binghamton’s Dylan Caruana in the third-place match ... dropped a tough 3-1 decision to Virginia Tech’s Kevin Norstrem in the championship bout at the Franklin & Marshall Open ... won three of the four duals in wrestled, including pinning American’s James Giaccia in just under two minutes.

• 2015-16 (Fr.):  Navy’s starter at 141 pounds, he turned in a 25-16 record that featured a 6-3 dual meet mark ... earned his first NCAA Tournament berth after taking sixth at the EIWA Championship ... earned his first collegiate victory by way of an 8-3 win against York College’s Greg Warner in a dual to open the season ... won his first four matches at the Michigan State Open (Fr/So Div) to land in the finals where he lost to Ohio State’s Ke-Shawn Hayes by major decision ... dropped a 6-5 decision to Princeton’s Jordan Laster at the Navy Classic to place second for a second straight week ... competed at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and the Southern Scuffle, but did not place ... won two in a row at the All-Academy Championship before dropping a 6-5 decision to Army West Point’s Logan Everett in the championship bout ... fell to Penn’s Marc Mastropietro, 7-4, in his opening match at the EIWA Championship, but won the next three before dropping a 6-4 decision to 17th-ranked Randy Cruz ... was tripped up by Princeton’s Laster in the fifth-place bout ... lost both of his matches at the NCAA Championship, including a heart-breaking one-point decision (3-2) against 11th-seeded and eighth-ranked Tommy Thorn of Minnesota in the opener ... earned big dual victories over Princeton’s Laster (3-2), Drexel’s Kevin Devoy (5-3), American’s Tyler Scotton (3-0) and Army West Point’s Everett (8-7).

• High School: A 2014 graduate of Crystal Lake South High School in Crystal Lake, Ill., Gil attended the Naval Academy Prep School during the 2014-15 academic year ... a four-year wrestling letterwinner, he served as the captain of the team his junior and senior years and was the team MVP both years.

• Personal: Son of James and Sheila Gil ... majoring in Quantitative Economics, he owns a 3.34 grade-point average ... named to the Commandant’s List in each of the last five semesters ... has been named to the Dean’s List three times and earned Superintendent’s List mention in the fall of his sophomore year ... his service assignment is Navy Pilot.
