Captain Brian Broadwater, USN (ret) assumed the role as Military Deputy Director of Athletics at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in November 2021.  Following his retirement from 24 years of active duty service in November 2024, he transitioned to the position of Senior Associate Athletic Director for Military Administration & Operations.

A 2001 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, he was a career naval flight officer qualified in the F/A-18 F Super Hornet.  He amassed more than 2700 flight hours and 700 traps during his 19-year flying career, including deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He served as the Commanding Officer of the VFA-103 "Jolly Rogers”, culminating his distinguished flying career.

Broadwater is a graduate of the prestigious United States Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) and earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island with a focus on Enterprise Strategic Planning. He earned three letters playing varsity football and was voted team captain for his senior season at the Naval Academy in 2000. He currently resides in Annapolis with his wife, Michelle, and their three children, Chase, Kennedy, and Rowan.
