Naval Academy Athletics

A native of Long Island, New York, Captain Donnelly attended the United States Naval Academy where he earned four letters playing varsity lacrosse including being named All-American three times. He graduated from USNA in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. In 2020, he earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. 

Captain Donnelly is a career naval flight officer qualified in the P-3 Orion and P-8 Poseidon and a graduate of the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Weapons School. His aviation operational sea tours include two tours with Patrol Squadron FIVE, USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65), command of Patrol Squadron TEN and Director, Naval and Amphibious Liaison Element Osan, Korea. 

Captain Donnelly’s shore tours include Task Force SEVEN TWO in Misawa, Japan, MPRA detailer for Navy Personnel Command, Executive Assistant to Joint Staff Director for Global Operations and USNA Battalion Officer.
