Naval Academy Athletics

Ty Eustice is in his third season as an assistant wrestling coach at the Naval Academy. He came to Navy from Davidson, where he had served as the head assistant coach since 2021.
 
During the 2025-26 season, Eustice played a vital role in Navy's success, helping the team post a 6-5 dual record and secure a runner-up finish at the 122nd EIWA Championship. His work with the lower and middle weights was highlighted by the continued dominance of Danny Wask (174). 
 
Under Eustice's tutelage, Wask finished sixth at the NCAA Championship to earn his second-consecutive All-America accolade, becoming the 16th Navy wrestler to earn All-America honors twice and the first Midshipman to do so in back-to-back seasons since 2008 and 2009. Wask's tournament run featured a massive 9-5 upset over second-seeded Simon Ruiz of Cornell in the opening rounds. Eustice also helped guide junior Jonathan Ley (157) to his second consecutive NCAA Championship appearance.
 
During his first season in Annapolis, Eustice made an immediate impact, notably guiding Danny Wask (174 pounds) to an eighth-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Championship to garner All-America honors. 
 
Under Eustice's guidance, Wask placed second at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championship to earn an automatic bid to nationals. Eustice also helped Wask capture his second-consecutive individual title at the Navy Classic, making him the first Midshipman to win back-to-back titles at the event since 2018.
 
Additionally, Eustice was instrumental in the emergence of sophomore Jonathan Ley. Ley put together a breakout 2024-25 campaign under Eustice, finishing with a 15-6 overall record and a strong 7-1 mark in dual action before capping his season with a third-place finish at the EIWA Championship.
 
Prior to his time at Davidson, Eustice served as an assistant coach at Minnesota State in Mankato, Minnesota, from 2017 to 2021. While there, he coached two NCAA finalists, seven All-Americans and 15 national qualifiers. Minnesota State posted a 24-6 record over his final three seasons and finished 10th at the NCAA Championship in both 2018 and 2021.
 
Eustice previously served as the head wrestling coach at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2010 and 2011, where he coached six All-Americans, including two-time national champion Victor DeJesus. His teams finished seventh and 10th at the national tournament. He began his coaching career in 2009 as an assistant coach at Cornell College in Iowa.
 
A native of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Eustice wrestled collegiately at the University of Iowa, where he was a two-time All-American, a two-time team captain and a four-time NCAA qualifier. In 2006, he reached the NCAA finals. Eustice was also a member of the Hawkeyes' Big Ten Championship team in 2004. He earned the distinction of Cadet, Junior and FILA Junior National Freestyle All-American. Before his collegiate career, Eustice was a four-time high school state champion in Minnesota.
 
Eustice earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in 2006 and his master's degree from MSU Mankato in 2008.
