Justin Kischefsky serves as an Associate Athletic Director for Sports Information. Now in his 26th year at Navy and 32nd in the sports information field, he is the primary media contact for the men's basketball, swimming & diving, men's tennis and volleyball programs. He also has served as the direct media contact for women's basketball, baseball, men's soccer, men's cross country and the rowing programs during his time on The Yard.
As part of his responsibilities he has served as the web site coordinator for Navy Athletics since 2001. In that role he has overseen multiple redesigns of NavySports.com, most recently in 2023, as well as the transfer of the site to its current web host, Sidearm Sports.
Kischefsky has handled media credentials for Navy football home games for two decades. This includes credentials for the biannually-hosted Army-Navy Game and the Navy-Notre Dame game. Additional events for which he has overseen media credentials are multiple NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament Quarterfinals, the 2009 Men’s Hockey Frozen Four in Washington, D.C., the 2012 Navy-Notre Dame football game played in Dublin, Ireland, and, since the fall of 2018, the Veterans Classic men's basketball event.
He was selected as the 2008-09 Swimming World Magazine Co-Sports Information Director of the Year and has received Honorable Mention laurels from the publication in several additional years. As a writer, he has had feature stories published in the 2004 Women’s Volleyball National Championship and the 2005 Women’s Basketball Final Four programs.
He is a member of both the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). He has received numerous citations from CoSIDA for entries into the organization's publication and writing contests. Most recently, his story on the 1985-86 Navy men's basketball team earned the district's first-place award in the historical category in May 2021, and he earned another first-place nod in the district in May 2022 in the event coverage category.
Before coming to Navy in the fall of 1999, Kischefsky fulfilled the role of Assistant Sports Information Director at Long Beach State for five years (1993-96, 1997-99). He also spent one season (1996-97) with the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League as Assistant Media Relations Coordinator.
A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Kischefsky earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations and an Interdisciplinary Minor in marketing from Marquette University in 1991 and attained a Master of Arts degree in communication and leadership studies from Gonzaga University in 2011. He currently resides in Annapolis.
