ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy wrestlers Mark Conley (Sr./Exton, Pa.) and Steve Kovach (Jr./Parkesburg, Pa.) are ranked in InterMat's top 20 in the their respective weight classes.
Conley, Navy's team captain, dropped from second to fourth in the 141-pound weight class after suffering his first loss of the season Sunday at the Penn State Open. Conley fell in the semifinal to Penn State's Scott Moore in a tiebreaker. Kovach is ranked 18th in the heavyweight division. He pinned his first three opponents en route to capturing the heavyweight division at the Penn State Open. He defeated Josh Walker in the semifinals, 6-2, and scored a 3-1 victory over 19th-ranked Matt Feast in the championship match, improving his record to 14-1. His only loss this season was a narrow 2-1 decision to fifth-ranked Jake Vercelli in the championship match of the Navy Classic (Nov. 17).
Navy returns to action Saturday at 7 p.m. when the Mids play host to East Stroudsburg University.
