Navy Wrestling Defeats Sacred Heart; Mids Fall to Drexel

LANSDALE, Pa. - The Navy wrestling team scored a 33-12 decision over Sacred Heart, but dropped a 20-15 decision to Drexel Saturday afternoon at North Penn High School.
"We had some really good performances today," Navy head coach Bruce Burnett said. "We did a good job of staying aggressive and staying in shape by pushing our opponents. We just did not take advantage of some situations, but we wrestled hard."
Navy (7-5) opened the day with a win over Sacred Heart, led by team captain Mark Conley's (Sr./Exton, Pa.) tech fall decision in the 141-pound weight class.
Other winners for Navy against Sacred Heart included Sam Gray (Fr./Essex, Vt.) in the 125-pound weight class, Luke Lazzo (Jr./Rochester Hills, Mich.) in the 165-pound weight class, Andrew Hemminger (So./Annapolis, Md.) at 174 pounds, Travis Manion (So./Doylestown, Pa.) at 184 pounds, Mike Bigrigg (Sr./Santa Ana, Calif.) at 197 pounds and Steve Kovach (Jr./Parkesburg, Pa.) in the heavyweight division.
Against Drexel, Navy took a 15-10 lead into the final two matches, but were unable to put away the Dragons.
Conley moved up a weight class and captured a victory in the 149-pound class. Adam Bones won the 157-pound weight class, while Lazzo, Manion and Kovach were also victorious.
The Mids had to forfeit the 133-pound weight class in each match due to an injury to starter Mike Simon (Jr./North Canton, Ohio).
Navy will be back in action Saturday when the Mids travel to Charleston, S.C., to compete in the All-Academy Tournament.
