LANDOVER, Md. ?? The Navy women?s track team received top-notch performances from a variety of athletes at the 17-team Terrapin Invitational, held at the Prince George?s County Complex Saturday.
Amanda Hasenauer (Jr./Sebastian, Fla.) was the meet?s pole vault champion, as she cleared a height of 3.66 meters. Freshman standout Tineisha Davis (Madisonville, Ky.) added a pair of top-10 finishes for the Mids as she placed second in the 400m dash, breaking Maryland winner Tia Burley?s stadium record with a time of 55.81 seconds. Davis also placed eighth in the 200m dash, finishing the race in a time of 25.6 seconds.
Joanne Uwujaren (Jr./Burke, Va.) placed fifth in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 11.76 meters, while Shannon Crites (Jr./Powell, Ohio) and Ashleigh Shear (Fr./Chapin, S.C.) brought home eighth and ninth-place finishes in the high jump (1.57 meters) and shot put (12.21 meters), respectively.
?We did alright considering this was the first meet back from our winter break,? said Navy head coach Carla Criste, who?s squad will travel to Newark, Del., to compete at the Delaware Invitational Jan. 12. ?Now is the time where we will have to get back into meet shape and continue on with our season.?
