Track & Field Returns Home for Spring Invitational, Distance Squad Heads South

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy track & field teams will host the Navy Spring Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Ingram Field. A separate group of distance runners will compete in the Virginia Challenge this weekend at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville, Va.
 
Friday's home action features the multi events at noon, followed by field events at 3 p.m. Saturday's slate concludes the multi and field events at 9:30 a.m., with track events beginning at 11:40 a.m.
 
The Virginia Challenge begins at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Navy Spring Invitational Participating Teams
Cornell, George Mason, Lafayette, Mount St. Mary's and Navy.

Accessing the Naval Academy
Fans with DoD or DBIDS ID cards may walk or drive onto the Naval Academy. For those without these cards, shuttles will depart from the Blue Angel bus stop at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. A 100% ID check will be in effect; passengers must present a REAL ID or passport and be a U.S. citizen to ride the shuttle.
 
Friday, April 17
  • Shuttle run time: 11:30 a.m. - 6:45 p.m.
  • Approved inbound windows (Stadium to Event): 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
 
Saturday, April 18
  • Shuttle run time: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Last Time at the Navy Spring Invitational (April 19, 2025)
The Midshipmen dominated last year's meet with 31 event victories. Nick Simmons won the decathlon with a personal-best 7,066 points, capturing first place in the 100-meter dash (10.85), long jump (7.25m / 23' 9.5"), discus (38.97m / 127' 10") and javelin (52.60m / 172' 7").
 
Mids Competing at Navy Spring Invitational
Eight Navy athletes competing this weekend won their respective events last year will be competing in the meet again.
 
Fabian France looks to sweep the 100 and 200 meters again. Caroline Rey returns after winning the 100-meter sprint with a season-best 12.39 last season, while Brian Schloeder is aiming for his second straight pole vault title after clearing a winning mark of 4.91 meters (16-01.25) in 2025.

2025 Women's Event Winners Returning  
Navy Returns to Virginia
Navy returns to Charlottesville for the second time this season, previously competing at the Virginia Opener on March 21.
 
At the opener, the women's 4x100-meter relay team of Caroline Rey, Sophia Richter, Julienne Warner and Jia Anderson placed second with the fourth-fastest time in program history at 46.03. The men's 4x100-meter squad of Marcel Jackson, Nathan Kent, Jonah Johnson and Tyler Yurich secured a victory in 40.05, the ninth-fastest time in school history.
 
Zoie Tesi highlighted the field events with a victory in the high jump, clearing 1.76 meters (5-9 1/4) for the second-best mark in program history.
 
Mids Competing at Virginia Challenge
Navy will send 33 distance runners to Virginia this weekend, including 15 returners from last season's meet.
 
Sophie Compton highlights the group after a strong outing last year, finishing 12th in the 5,000 meters with the fourth-best time in program history (16:26.67).
