Feinstein To Conduct Book Signing At Patriot League Tournament

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - John Feinstein, author of The Last Amateurs and numerous other outstanding books over the last decade as well as the color commentator for the Navy Football Radio Network, will be featured during an autograph session on March 2, 2002, at the 12th Annual Patriot League men's and women's basketball championship tournament at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md.
Feinstein's book-signing session will be held Saturday, March 2, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. outside section 103 at The Show Place Arena. Copies of The Last Amateurs will be available at the Arena throughout the tournament.
The 2002 PL championship tournament will begin Friday, March 1, with the first of four women's quarterfinal-round games. The four men's quarterfinal games will be played Saturday (3/2). Sunday (3/3), the women's semifinal games will be played in the afternoon, followed by the men's semifinal games Sunday evening. Starting time for the first game on all three days is noon.
The Women's Championship game will be played Wednesday, March 6, at 7 p.m.
The Men's Championship game, broadcast live on ESPN at 4:30 p.m., will be
played Friday, March 8. Both championship games will be played on the home
court of the highest-seeded team.
Feinstein, a sportswriter for the Washington Post and regular contributor for ESPN, spent the 1999-2000 men's basketball season covering Patriot League games and researching the players, coaches and families featured in the The Last Amateurs, which is now available in paperback after spending
several months on the New York Times bestseller list last year. A number of
players featured in the book will be competing in the 2002 championship tournament.
The Patriot League, an NCAA Division I athletics conference founded on the principle of admitting athletes who are academically representative of their class, is in its second decade of academic and athletic excellence.
Participation in intercollegiate athletics at Patriot League institutions is viewed as an important component of the undergraduate experience. A successful Division I-AA football conference since 1986 and an all-sport
conference since 1990, membership includes American, Army, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy, while seven additional institutions hold associate membership.
Patriot League member institutions are among the oldest and most prestigious in the nation, graduating alumni who are well prepared for life with the ability to make meaningful contributions to their community and society in general. In the most recent NCAA Graduation Rate Report of student-athletes, the Patriot League ranked FIRST among NCAA Division I conferences.
