Davidson Named First-Team All-Patriot League

Navy sophomore guard Courtney Davidson has been named First-Team All-Patriot League, it was announced Thursday by the league office at the Patriot League Tournament banquet.
Davidson (New Oxford, Pa.) leads the Patriot League in free throw percentage (89.2 percent), stands second in three-point field goal percentage (40 percent), and ranks third in both scoring (17.6 points per game) and in three-point field goals made a game (2.38). She has been nationally ranked in all-four statistics throughout the season.
She has scored in double figures in 24 of the 26 games she has played in, and has totaled at least 20 points in 11 games. With 458 points on the year, she is poised to become only the second player in Navy history to lead the Mids in scoring as both a freshman and a sophomore (Colleen Cassidy, 1979-80). She has set a new Navy sophomore class record for most three-point field goals made with 62, and ranks third among Navy sophomores in points scored.
Davidson enters the Patriot League Tournament with the highest free throw percentage in Navy history for both a single season (89.2 percent) and for a career (84.1 percent). In addition, her 109 career three-point field goals made ranks third in Navy history.
Not just a scorer, Davidson ranks second on the team with 130 rebounds, 56 assists and 41 steals.
This is the second-straight season Davidson has garnered postseason accolades from the league. Last season as a freshman she was named Second-Team All-Patriot League, and also was named to the league's all-rookie team. Davidson joins the select group of Adria Schneck (1995, 97), Joanne Groth (1996), Becky Dowling (1997, '98), Laurie Coffey (1998, '99) and Erica Hayes (1999, 2000) as the only Mids to be named first-team all-league. Only Schneck, Groth and Davidson received the honor as sophomores.
Navy will face Bucknell in Friday's quarterfinal game of the Patriot League Tournament. Tipoff time is slated for 5 p.m. at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md. The winner of the Navy-Bucknell game will face either Lehigh or Army, Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the semifinals.
