Second-Half Run Propels Bucknell to Win

Bucknell used a 20-0 second-half run to come from behind and defeat the Navy women?s basketball team, 83-71, Wednesday night at Davis Gym in Lewisburg, Pa.
Navy (10-12, 2-7 Patriot League) closed the first half on a 13-6 run to take a 41-36 lead into the locker rooms at halftime. The Mids shot 41 percent from the field and outrebounded Bucknell (14-8, 7-2), 24-12, before intermission.
The Navy lead grew to nine points several times early in the second half, including 51-42 with 15:04 to play. Navy held a 61-57 lead with 9:25 to play when the Bison went on their 20-0 run to take a 77-61 lead with 2:56 left in the game.
"The game was decided in that run," said Navy head coach Joe Sanchez. "We didn?t score on seven-straight possessions and they did."
Bucknell?s Molly Creamer led all scorers with 32 points. She converted 14-of-14 free throws in the game. Navy was led by Bryanna herring with 20 points, Maile Shimoda with 17 and Adrienne Roseti with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Bucknell shot 47 percent from the field for the game and made 30 of 34 free throws on the night. Navy shot a respectable 40 percent for the game, but made 11 of 14 free throws.
The Bison outrebounded the Mids in the second half, 22-13.
Navy will be back in action Saturday when the Midshipmen play at Lehigh in a 5:30 p.m. game in Bethlehem. The game can be heard live on WNAV-AM 1430, as well as at www.navysports.com.
