Conley Three Wins Away From A National Championship

ALBANY, N.Y.-Navy senior Mark Conley (Exton, Pa.) moved to within three wins of becoming just the third Navy wrestler in school history to win a national championship with three victories on Friday at the NCAA Wrestling Championship in Albany, N.Y.

Conley, ranked number one in the country at 141 pounds, defeated Jared Sullivan of Chattanooga, 8-3, Grant Hoerr of Wisconsin, 2-0, and Mike Maney of Lock Haven, 3-2. Conley will take on Chad Erikson of Minnesota, Friday morning in the quarterfinals.

Navy's only other wrestler competing in the championship, junior heavyweight Steve Kovach, lost in the first round to 12th-seed John Testa of Clarion, 4-3. Kovach was to wrestle Eric Webb of Oregon in the wrestlebacks Thursday night.
