Navy to Host Junior Olympic Qualifier

Annapolis, Md. -- Fifty competitors from around the Mid-Atlantic region will compete at the Junior Olympic Qualifier on Saturday at 8 a.m. in the Bancroft Rifle Range. State champions and at-large competitors who shoot a minimum qualifying score will advance to the 2004 National Junior Olympic Championships in April.
Navy freshmen Chris Schneider (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill) and Drew Bielfelt (Alpharetta, Ga./Woodward Academy) will compete as at-large entrants this weekend.
Fellow freshman Sarah Bergman (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill) competed at the 2003 Nationals, but is ineligible to compete at the junior level this year because of her age. Navy's Marta Jung, Matt Albright, Mike Miller and Kevin Wilson are all past Junior Olympic Qualifiers.
The Mids will resume collegiate competition on Sat., Jan. 17 as the Coast Guard visits Annapolis for an 8 a.m. match at the Bancroft Rifle Range.
