Disappointment For Navy Volleyball
WORCESTER, Mass. -- In a disappointing showing by the Navy volleyball team, the Mids dropped a 35-33, 30-17, 30-18 contest to Holy Cross, Saturday night in Worcester, Mass.
"I am very disappointed in our players," said Navy head coach Mike Schwob. "We didn't show up tonight. Instead of being excited to be on the floor and erase the memories of last night's loss at Army, we came out in the same funk we were in last night. We did not make anything happen on our side of the net. Holy Cross is a very emotional team to begin with, and with tonight being their senior night and parents weekend at the school, they had a huge crowd and continually fed off of them. We needed to start off strong to stem their emotion., but we did nothing to do that."
The loss drops the Mids into a three-way tie with Holy Cross and Lafayette for the fourth and final spot in the upcoming league playoffs. Each of the three teams has posted a 4-6 record, and each has four matches remaining over the next two weekends. The Midshipmen will be home for each of their matches against Colgate (Nov. 5), Bucknell (Nov. 6), Lafayette (Nov. 12) and Lehigh (Nov. 13). The Crusaders are on the road for each of their matches at Lafayette, Lehigh, Colgate and Bucknell, while the Leopards play host to Holy Cross and Army and play at Navy and American.
