ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy rifle team cruised to a 304-point win over the University of the Sciences on Saturday morning at Bancroft Hall, 4592 - 4288. The Mids improved to 6-0 on the season, heading into a two-month break. Navy used an all-freshman lineup in topping USP.
"I was very, very pleased," said Navy head coach Bill Kelley. "The plebes were actually about 10-15 points what our varsity shoots, so it shows that we have talent for the future and talent for now. We got a great performance in smallbore."
Sarah Bergman (Fort Mill, S.C.) won the title in air rifle with a 585. James Greene added a 574, Monica Amagna added a 573 and Christina Schade scored a 564. In smallbore, Kevin Wilson took the individual title with a 582. Josh Albright added a 581, Nicholas Hogberg scored a 571 and Amagna shot a 571.
Navy will be off until Jan. 15, when the Mids travel to New London, Conn., for a dual match against U.S. Coast Guard.
