Tipping Off
After starting the season with a pair of games on the West Coast, the Navy women's basketball team will open its home season Saturday afternoon by playing host to Troy in Alumni Hall. Tipoff time is slated for 1 p.m.

Saturday's game can also be heard on the radio at WNAV-AM 1430 and over the internet at www.wnav.com(.) Bob Socci begins the Navy pregame show at 12:45 p.m.


Navy Review
The Mids are in search of their first victory of the season after dropping both games in California. Navy began the season with a 72-65 loss to Cal Poly, Nov. 19. The Mids extended a 33-30 halftime lead to 42-34 early in the second half, but the Mustangs went on a 25-4 run to pull away from the Mids. Navy outrebounded Cal Poly, 44-40, and converted six additional free throws than the Mustangs did, but Navy shot just 32-percent from the floor and turned the ball over 30 times to Cal Poly's 24.

Abi Campbell led Navy with a career-high 18 points, Carly Meyer tallied 14 points and Nikki Curtis added the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Two days later, Navy lost an 87-55 contest to California. Turnovers were once again an issue for the Mids, turning the ball over 17 times in the first half and 29 times in the game. The Navy miscues led to numerous offensive advantages for the Golden Bears, who shot 52.5-percent from the floor and 80-percent from behind the three-point line.

Meyer again had a solid offensive effort, dropping in a career-high 17 points, while Ashley Pelzek contributed 12 points.


Troy Preview
The Trojans travel to Annapolis with a 1-1 record on the season. Saturday's game will be the third-straight game on the road for Troy.

The Trojans began the season with a 79-64 loss at Austin Peay, then picked up their first win the season Tuesday night with a 57-50 triumph over Birmingham-Southern.

Amy Lewis leads the Trojans in scoring at 16.5 points per game, with Audrey Muse and Alecia Jones also scoring in double figures at 13.0 and 10.5 points per game, respectively. Valensia Hairston is grabbing a team-high 7.5 boards a game, just ahead of Muse's mark of 7.0.

This will be Troy's final year as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference as the Trojans will join the Sun Belt Conference next season.


Navy vs. Troy Series
Saturday's game will be the first in the series between the two schools.


Conference Matchups

Navy has posted a 1-2 record against teams from the Atlantic Sun Conference, while the game will mark the first time Troy has faced a team from the Patriot League.

The Mids will face another team from the Atlantic Sun in three weeks when Navy travels to play at Jacksonville Dec. 18.


Three-Point Streak
Navy has connected on at least one three-point field goal in 196 consecutive games. The last time the Mids were held without a three pointer was Nov. 23, 1997, vs. Sacramento State.


Well Traveled
Navy opens the season with four of its first five games and eight of its opening 12 games away from Alumni Hall. The Mids will play road games in California (two games), Maryland, New York, Florida, Colorado, Delaware and Virginia during those 12 contests.

In addition to playing two more games in New York, the Mids also will compete in Pennsylvania (three games), Rhode Island, Massachusetts and our nation's capitol this season.

Next Up
Navy will once again play back-to-back games on the road next week. The Mids will make the short drive to Baltimore Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game at UMBC, then will play at St. Bonaventure Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Abi Campbell
Team captain Abi Campbell netted a career-high 18 points in last Friday's loss at Cal Poly. With her two three-point field goals made this season, the senior is only four triples shy of moving into sixth place on Navy's all-time list.

Service Selections
Each of the three seniors on the Navy basketball team received the first choice for service assignment. Abi Campbell and LaTesha Ford will be surface warfare officers, while Nikki Curtis will become a Navy pilot.


Career Highs
Several veteran Mids recorded career-best statistical efforts during games last week at Cal Poly and California.

Carly Meyer set career highs with 14 points and seven rebounds against the Mustangs, then set a new career high with 17 points two days later against the Golden Bears.

Abi Campbell scored a career-high 18 points in Navy's narrow loss to Cal Poly, topping her previous best by one point.

Lauren Skrel enjoyed her return to her home state by handing out a career-high five assists against Cal Poly and scoring a career-best seven points against California.

Nikki Curtis hauled in a career-best 10 rebounds against Cal Poly, while also tallying 10 points against the Mustangs for the first double-double of her career.
