Tipping Off
Fresh off its largest victory in 12 months, the Navy women's basketball team will attempt to post back-to-back wins for the first time this season Saturday when Navy plays at Jacksonville in a 2 p.m. contest at Swisher Gymnasium.

Navy Review
Navy improved to 2-4 on the season with its 72-42 victory over Providence, D10 in Alumni Hall. The Mids held a narrow 32-23 advantage at halftime, but tallied 40 second-half points and surrendered only 19 to the Friars after intermission for the 30-point victory.

Four Mids scored in double figures in the evening contest, with Ashley Pelzek drilling five three-point field goals and recording a career-high 22 points to lead all players. Pelzek also was the top rebounder in the game, hauling in eight boards against the Friars. Point guard Lauren Skrel totaled a double-double in the game with 10 points and 10 assists.

Jacksonville Preview
The Dolphins also enter Saturday's game with a 2-4 record on the season. Jacksonville snapped a three-game losing skid in its last outing with a 65-62 win over Bethune-Cookman.

Yolisha Jackson leads Jacksonville in points (12.7 ppg), rebounds (6.3 rpg), blocks (5) and steals (11) on the year. She is one of four Dolphins to be averaging in double figures and one of four players to average over four rebounds a game.

As a team, Jacksonville is being outscored -- 63.7-57.0 ppg -- and outrebounded -- 40.2-35.2 rpg this season. Jacksonville opponents have made 87 free throws this season (87-of-137), the same number as the Dolphins have attempted (63-of-87).
Saturday's game against Navy will mark the first home game of the season for the Dolphins.

Navy vs. Jacksonville Series
Saturday's game marks the third time Navy and Jacksonville will have met, with the road team winning each of the two previous matchups. The two teams last met two years ago when the Dolphins edged the Mids, 75-73, in Annapolis. The initial meeting in the series took place N18, 01 in Jacksonville, a 75-65 win for the Midshipmen.

Conference Matchups
Jacksonville will be the second member of the Atlantic Sun Conference Navy will have played this season. The Mids defeated Troy, 80-66, N27 in Annapolis. The lone additional meeting between Navy and an Atlantic Sun school was an 87-82 loss to Stetson, D10, 2000.

Besides the two meetings with Navy, Jacksonville has only played a Patriot League school one other time in the program's six years of existence -- a 63-57 loss to Army, N25, 2000, in Jacksonville.

Florida Notes
Two members of the Navy team will be playing in their home state this weekend. Senior Nikki Curtis hails from Jacksonville, while sophomore Carly Meyer is from Orlando.
