Tipping Off
Navy will close out its preseason slate of games with a pair of road contests this week. The Mids will play Monday at Delaware State in a 5 p.m. game, then will play Wednesday at Radford with the tip scheduled for 7 p.m. The latter contest can be heard live on both WNAV-AM 1430 and www.wnav.com(,) with the pregame show starting at 6:45 p.m.

Navy Review
Navy ended the 2004 calendar year with a 72-62 loss at Air Force to drop its record to 4-6. The Falcons closed the first half on an 8-3 run to take a three-point lead into the locker rooms, then began the second half on an 11-2 run to put away the Mids. Navy missed 14 of its first 16 shots from the field in the second half.

Carly Meyer, who saw limited action in the first half due to foul trouble, scored 20 of her game-high 22 points after intermission.

Delaware State Preview
Since placing second to the Mids at the D22-23 Sheraton Barcelo Navy Classic, the Hornets placed third at the St. Peter's College Tournament to run their record to 3-5 on the season.

Najmah Fauntleroy leads the Hornets in scoring at 9.9 points a game, while Lauryn Smith is tops in rebounding (6.6 rpg), assists (2.3 apg) and steals (3.0 spg). As a team, Delaware State is averaging 48.6 points and 33.4 rebounds per game, while surrendering 56.4 points and 41.4 boards per contest. The Hornets are averaging nearly 12 steals a game and are forcing just under 21 turnovers a game.

Delaware State has won 22-straight home games dating back to early in the 2002-03 campaign.

Navy vs. Delaware State Series
Navy's 57-37 victory over Delaware State D23 improved its mark to 4-0 against the Hornets. Monday's game marks just the second meeting in Dover during the brief series -- D9, 1878.

In the most recent contest between the two programs, Navy held Delaware State to just 16 second half points on its way to claiming the Sheraton Barcelo Navy Classic championship. Navy's defense limited the Hornets to just 26-percent shooting in the game.

Conference Matchups
Navy has posted a 20-11 all-time record against teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, while Delaware State enters the game with an 0-9 mark against the Patriot League.

Radford Preview
Radford enters a J3 contest at Norfolk State with a 2-7 record on the season. Included in its record are a loss to future Navy foe Lafayette (63-47) and a victory over UMBC (47-42). The Mids dropped a 59-46 decision at UMBC earlier this year.

The Highlanders are led by Taryn Causey at 12 points per game and Shavon Earp at 10.0 points per game. Sarah Stevens and Corrie Fertitta are each hauling in six boards a contest.

Radford as a team is narrowly being outscored -- 59.6-52.6 -- and outrebounded -- 39.9-28.6 -- on the season.

Navy vs. Radford Series
The Mids picked up 74-68 a victory last season at Radford to even the young series at one game apiece.

Conference Matchups
Navy has recorded a 13-3 all-time record against teams from the Big South Conference, while Radford has three victories and three losses against the Patriot League.

Prior to Christmas she totaled 15 assists in the Sheraton Barcelo Navy Classic, the second-highest two-game total in tournament history, while turning the ball over a combined seven times.

She has tallied five or more assists in seven games this season, and recorded a double-double of points and assists against Providence (13 pts., 10 asts.) for only the 10th time in Navy history.

Nikki Curtis
An eight-point outing in Navy's D23 game against Delaware State marked just the second time this season in which Nikki Curtis has failed to score in double figures. The senior post player leads the Mids with 11.4 points per game, while also topping the Navy charts with 6.3 boards per contest.

Curtis entered this season with career averages of 2.3 points and 2.1 rebounds a game.
