Navy Women's Basketball Team Loses At Colgate, 64-53

HAMILTON, N.Y.-Emily Braseth scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Leandra Fuller scored 16 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds to lead Colgate (6-13, 2-4 in the Patriot League) to a 64-53 victory over Navy (6-13, 2-4) at Cotterell Court in Hamilton. The loss was Navy's fifth-straight as the Mids dropped to 1-11 on the road.

"We didn't play hard," said Navy head coach Tom Marryott. "Tonight was the first time all year that we didn't come ready to play."

Colgate led 36-25 at the break thanks to an 11-2 run over the final 4:37 of the first half. Navy never led after taking a 5-4 lead on a LaTesha Ford free throw with 17:32 left.

The Mids were able to get the lead under double figures just twice in the second half and the Raiders led by as many as 17 points in the second stanza.

"We came out flat and fell behind early and spent the rest of the night trying to fight back," said Marryott.

Nikki Curtis led Navy with 17 points and five rebounds. Abi Campbell added 15 points and six boards. Kate Hobbs pulled down a team-high seven rebounds to go along with her six points. The Mids handed out just five assists in the game while committing 18 turnovers.

Navy will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa., to take on the Bucknell Bison in a 2 p.m. contest.
