CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Navy jumped out to an 8-5 halftime lead, but St. Francis rallied in the second half to deal the Mids a 10-9 setback in the finals of the CWPA Eastern Championship. The Mids end their season at 22-7, their 24th straight year of at least 19 wins.

"It was a very, very disappointing loss for us," said Navy head coach Mike Schofield. "I want to congratulate St. Francis. They were the best team throughout the course of the season and they are well-deserving to represent the East in the NCAA Tournament."

Navy jumped out to an 8-5 halftime lead, but couldn't hold the St. Francis offense in check in the second half. Schofield mentioned the difference in Sunday's game was extra-man opportunties.

"The first half was as good as we have played all season," said Schofield. "We kind of lost our way in the second half and they took advantage. We just couldn't match them. They were very good on their extra-man opportunities, and we just mediocre. That was the difference."

Navy was led by seniors Jordan Gentry and Alex Ratcliffe, as both scored three goals each. Alex Owre, Aaron Recko and Michael Mulvey netted one goal each. George Naughton stopped 13 shots in the net for Navy.

It was the final game for eight Navy seniors.

"I want to congratulate our seniors as well," said Schofield. "They have come a long way since day one. They hung in tough at the start of the year and really plugged away all season long. They carried us. It's tough to lose the last game, but I am very proud of what they accomplished all season. It was a nice final chapter for them."

Navy, which finished 22-7 overall, won the CWPA Southern Championship and finished with a 9-1 league record.
