ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- New this year to the Navysports.com wrestling page is a feature called "10 Questions With...". It is a column featuring a Navy wrestler and getting to know more about him off the mat. The first set of questions of the year come from senior captain Tanner Garrett. Garrett is currently ranked anywhere from seventh to ninth in the nation and is shooting for his third straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Garrett is an English major and has selected SEAL as his service selection. Assignments will be handed out later this month.
1) What is your favorite sports movie and why?
Miracle. I like it because it's a story about a team being greater than the sum of it's parts.
2) Who is the team prankster and why?
First off, who uses 'prankster' anymore? Now that that's out of the way, Jonny Kane hands down. The guy is the most loyal, loveable goofball you'll ever meet.
3) What college team would you most like to wrestle and why? Hmm... I haven't any good answer except whatever team we need to wrestle to prepare us for the EIWA and NCAA tournaments. Until then, everything is practice.
4) What is the biggest rivalry in college wrestling not involving Navy?
As an Oklahoman, I'm biased. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
5) Best wrestler you've wrestled?
Joel Sharratt.
6) If I didn't wrestle at Navy, I would play (what other varsity sport)?
Boxing.
7) What three songs do you listen to the most on your I-POD?
My I-POD has lots of songs. I'm pretty eclectic when it comes to music.
8) Favorite athlete as a kid?
I was more of a comic book kid growing up, so...Batman.
9) Pro wrestling - Real or Fake? and who is your favorite all-time pro wrestler?
Fake. It's a violent ballet. But I guess if I had to choose, my favorite would have to be Kurt Angle, because he was actually the real deal.
10) Little known fact about yourself?
I'm part of the Cherokee Nation.
