Navy Announces Football Recruits

ANNAPOLIS, Md.-Navy head football coach Paul Johnson released the names of the 2005 Navy football recruits on Thursday morning as 53 prospects representing 20 states and the District of Columbia, making Navy truly America's team, went through induction ceremonies on Wednesday and began plebe summer this morning.

"I think we brought in a good class, but you never know for sure how good a class is until four years down the road," said Johnson. "As always, we emphasized speed and athleticism and I think this group will improve our team in both areas."

The state of Florida produced eight prospects for the Midshipmen, while six incoming plebes hail from Texas and five from Virginia. Georgia and Ohio produced four prospects apiece.

Navy football season tickets are currently on sale at the Ricketts Hall Box Office or by calling 1-800-US4-NAVY, by logging on to the web at www.navysports.com or at the Navy Box Office in Ricketts Hall. Navy's season-opener is Sept. 3 against Maryland at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, while the home opener is Sept. 10 against Stanford.
