DALLAS, Texas --The 24th-ranked Navy wrestling team will face Purdue, Tennessee-Chattanooga and Utah Valley State in Saturday's Lone Star Duals, being held at South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, Texas. The Mids are 4-1 overall, but are coming off a loss to Big 10 power Penn State in their last dual meet. Action will get underway at 10:00 a.m. CST.

Mids Return to Dual-Meet Schedule at Competitive Lone Star Duals...
• Navy will kick off its second half of the season in earnest this weekend when it heads to the "Big D" for the Lone Star Duals on Saturday. The Mids, ranked 24th in the nation, are looking to improve on their 4-1 dual-meet record, but it won't be easy. Navy battles Big 10 power Purdue, as well as Tennessee-Chattanooga and Utah Valley State. Tennessee-Chattanooga features two top 20 ranked wrestlers in 133-pounder Matt Keller (ranked 8th) and 141-pounder Michael Keefe (ranked 18th). Purdue, meanwhile, sports three ranked wrestlers, 184-pound Ben Wissel (4th), 149-pound Doug Withstandley (8th) and 197-pound Nathan Moore (19th).

Mids Place Ninth at Southern Scuffle...
• Navy finished ninth out of 32 teams at last weekend's Southern Scuffle, coming home with three medals in the process.
• Senior heavyweight Tanner Garrett ran his record to 26-2 on the season, as he fell in the finals to second-ranked Cole Konrad in the finals. Along the way, Garrett defeated then-11th-ranked Tyler Shovlin of UNC-Greensboro, currently 11th-ranked Kirk Nail of Ohio State and Cornell's Jason Manross. The victory over Nail avenged a setback in last year's NCAA Tournament.
• Sophomore heavyweight Ed Prendergast placed eighth at the Scuffle. Prendergast advanced to the round of 16, where he dropped a tough 6-4 decision to 15th-ranked Mike Faust of Virginia Tech, but battled back to take eighth place. His tournament included two victories over UT-Chattanooga wrestlers.
• Lastly, junior John Jarred placed eighth at 157 pounds. Jarred fought back in the consolation bracket, winning three matches, before being forced to medically forfeit in the seventh place match. Two of his three victories in the consolation bracket were by major decision.

Coming Up...
• Navy returns home on Wednesday, Jan. 11, for only its third home action of the year. The Mids will battle in-state rival Maryland at Halsey Field House at 7:30 p.m.
• Following the meet with the Terrapins, Navy hits the road for two EIWA meets against East Stroudsburg on Friday, Jan. 13, and against Lehigh on Jan. 14.
