ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy missed its opening 13 shots from the field and fell behind 14-0 on its way to an 88-51 loss to Bucknell, Saturday evening in Alumni Hall in the opening game of the Patriot League season for both women's basketball teams. The Mids saw their overall record fall to 7-7 on the year, while the Bison improved to 7-6.

After their struggles at the start of the contest, the Mids closed to within 10 points of the Bison at 15-5 and 17-7, but behind 46 percent shooting from the field in the half Bucknell went into the locker room at intermission holding a 36-21 advantage.

The second half was all Bucknell as the Bison, who continued to apply full-court pressure until the final horn, led by over 20 points for the final 17:30 of the game and 30 points over the last six minutes of the contest.

Bucknell shot 53.3 percent from the field for the game and connected on 8-of-13 three-point field goal attempts, while holding the Mids to 29.5 percent shooting from the field and just 5-of-16 from behind the three-point line.

Lauren Skrel (Sr., Walnut Creek, Calif.) led Navy with nine points in the game, while Amanda Brown paced Bucknell with 21 points.

"I have never been more embarrassed of the way a team played than I was today," said Navy head coach Tom Marryott. "Bucknell is a good team, but we let them dictate everything today. We saw nothing we weren't expecting, but we did not execute at all. We did not match their intensity, focus, and desire."

Navy will next be in action Tuesday when the Mids play at Lehigh. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m., with the broadcast airing locally on WNAV-AM 1430 and over the internet at www.wnav.com starting at 6:45 p.m.
