GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina A&T forced the Navy women's basketball team into 25 turnovers, which helped the Aggies to a 64-59 victory over the Midshipmen, Monday night in Greensboro, N.C.

The Aggies (5-4) were able to take slim leads of up to six points throughout the game, but the Mids (3-7) successfully answered those runs each time.

The Mids trailed by eight points at 44-36 with 12:15 left in the game, their largest deficit of the night, but Navy eventually tied the game at 46-46. The Aggies hit a pair of free throws to take a 50-48 lead, then the Mids committed turnovers on their next three possessions, with the Aggies scoring points on each of their ensuing times down the floor to take a 56-48 lead with 5:35 left on the clock.

Navy was able to climb back to within five points at 62-57 with 1:12 to play, then forced a loose ball at midcourt. Both teams dove for the ball, with the Aggies eventually taking possession and calling a timeout. The Aggies then were fouled and made one of two free throw attempts to increase their lead to six points with 61 seconds remaining in the game.

"We kept answering and kept answering their runs, but those only allowed us to get back to even," said Navy head coach Tom Marryott. "Turnovers limited our chances on offense. We have to be stronger with the ball against pressure."

While Navy committed 25 turnovers, the Aggies turned the ball over 16 times in the game. In addition to the turnovers, the Mids were whistled for 24 fouls in the game, while the Aggies were called for just 11 fouls on the night. Navy shot 12 free throws in the game, with NCA&T attempting 28 foul shots.

Carly Meyer (Sr., Orlando, Fla.) led Navy with 22 points, with 15 of those points coming during the second half, while Margaret Knap (Sr., Chicago, Ill.) scored 16 points for the Mids. Also having a good night was Lindi Conner (Jr., Kingman, Kan.), who tallied eight points and a career-best 10 rebounds.

Navy will remain on the road for a game Wednesday night at Charleston Southern.
