ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- With the Navy men's basketball team off to a 6-2 start and beginning a four-game homestand on Monday, Dec. 4, several promotions have been planned for the upcoming week. The Mids will host Howard on Monday, Dec. 4, as part of a women-men's doubleheader, beginning with the women's team playing Georgetown at 5:00 pm, then will host 2006 NCAA Tournament participant Penn on Thursday, Dec. 7, beginning at 8:00 pm. The Penn game will be televised nationally by CSTV.
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night, Camper Reunion Night and American Red Cross Blood Donor Appreciation Night will all be held on Monday, Dec. 4, for both men's and women's games. All faculty and staff that show a valid USNA or NAAA ID at the Alumni Hall ticket window on game night will receive up to four tickets. All 2006 summer basketball camp participants can receive two free tickets to the game with advance registration. Lastly, all American Red Cross blood donors from local Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., blood drives can receive two free tickets with advance registration. The halftime show of the men's game with Howard will feature a baton twirling performance by current Navy freshman Laura Martindale. Martindale is a three-time Junior Olympic medalist aas well as co-captain of the USA World Team that earned the bronze medal in the 2006 Championship.
Tickets for either the men's or women's game will get you into both games on Monday night.
Military Appreciation Night and Toys For Tots will be held for Thursday's nationally-televised battle with Penn, beginning at 8:00 pm. All current or former military personnel in uniform or with a military ID that attend the game will receive one free ticket to the game. Additional tickets for family members can be purchased at the game for only $3. Navy Basketball's Toys For Tots drive begins on Thursday and will run through the December 20, game with Washington (Md.). Marines will be in the lobby of Alumni Hall to collect new and unwrapped toys from fans. Those that donate a toy to the drive will receive one free ticket to the game.
