MERCER COUNTY, N.J. - Yale posted a three-second victory over Navy in the varsity race to claim its first Eads Johnson Trophy, Saturday afternoon on Lake Merecer in a lightweight crew race between the two teams.

The Bulldogs recorded a time of 5:51.8 to defeat the Mids who were clocked in 5:54.6 over the 2000-meter course. Navy had won the first two races in which the trophy had been presented to the victorious varsity crew.

Navy won each of the remaining four races contested between the schools on the day.
