NEWARK, Del. -- The Navy women's track and field team six events in a rain-shortened Delaware Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
"It was a tough day to compete. The meet was ran in a constant rain all day," said Navy head coach Carla Criste. "The times and distances weren't where they should be, but some of that can be attributed to the weather. Overall, though, it was a decent meet for us."
The Mids won seven events, led by a pair of first-place finishes from Priscilla Lewis and Danielle Still. Lewis won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12:03, while Still claimed the javelin with a throw of 34.95 meters. The duo were then part of the winning 4x100-meter relay team, which was clocked in 49.42.
Other Navy victors were Tina Terry in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:10.48, Sammy-Joe Andrews in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 12:07.72 and Meghan Joyce in the hammer throw with a heave of 46.59 meters.
Navy added five second-place finishes in the non-team scored meet.
"We are hoping we can get some better weather next week and get some better performances under our belts," added Criste.
