Navy and Army Resume Hardwood Rivalry on Saturday
Navy and Army will meet for the 106th time on Saturday in front of a regionally-televised audience, beginning at 1:00 pm from Alumni Hall. The contest marks the Star Game between the two teams with the winner earning the Alumni Trophy awarded after the game. The game will be broadcast by CBS with Ian Eagle and Jim Spanarkel calling all the action.

Navy, which has won four Star Games in a row and owns a 65-40 series lead over the Black Knights, are coming off a poor performance in a Thursday afternoon contest against Patriot League-leader Holy Cross. The Mids were outscored 28-6 to start the game and never found their rhythm, dropping a 68-40 decision to Holy Cross. The loss drops Navy to 13-13 overall and 3-8 in the Patriot League. Surprisingly enough, Navy still controls its own fate for the fourth and final home Patriot League quarterfinal.
Navy is paced by junior All-Patriot League candidate Greg Sprink, who saw a six-game double-figure scoring streak end on Thursday. Sprink averages 16.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg and has made 57 three-pointers in just 26 games. No other player averages more than 8.8 points per game and eight players in all average at least 3.5 ppg.
Army, meanwhile, enters the contest on a six-game losing streak, but still hold a 13-13 overall record and a 3-8 overall mark. The Black Knights' last win was a 53-50 thriller in West Point over Navy. Army is looking for its first series sweep of the Mids since the 1991-92 season.
Army is led by a pair of guards in Jerell Brown and Matt Bell. The duo is combining to average 31.6 ppg and has made 111 of the team's 158 three-pointers this year. Freshman Chris Walker is next in line with a 6.0 ppg average. Head coach Jim Crews has gotten solid production out of sophomore Doug Williams recently. Williams scored 13 points with 11 rebounds Wednesday against American.
