NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- John Olsen led a strong Navy showing with a fourth-place finish, leading the Mids to a fourth-place team finish at the Iona Meet of Champions on Saturday morning. Navy placed seven runners in the top 48 to finish with 109 points. Iona won the meet with 72 points.
Olsen, a senior from Staten Island, N.Y., finished the 8K course in 25:16.1 for the fourth-place finish. The two-time Patriot League runner of the week finished just over 13 seconds out of first place and just 2.6 seconds out of third place in a field of 205 runners.
John Kress (Sr. / Colorado Springs, Colo.) was the next Navy finisher, coming in 10th with a clocking of 25:37.1. It is Kress' third top-10 finish of the year, missing a top-eight finish by just 1.8 seconds.
Chris Horel (So. / Bedford, N.J.) finished 26th with a time of 26:09.1, while Ricky Griffith (So. / Piedmont, Calif.) finished 34th with a time of 26:19.2.
Rounding out the Navy scoring was Andrew Grant (Jr. / Athens, Ga.) with a 40th-place finish in 26:27.5, Bill Prom (Jr. / New Berlin, Wis.) was 53rd with a time of 26:40.5, and Ben Kozy (Sr. / Houston, Texas) was 58th in 26:46.5.
Other Navy finishers included Patrick Quinn (So. / Stafford, Va.) with a 63rd-place finish, Stephen Porter was 75th and Nick Crowell was 89th.
Navy will be in action next Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational in Falcon Heights, Minn., beginning at 1:10 pm.
